UX Engineer

Client: n8n
Location: Remote in the UK or Europe
(potential for visa sponsorship and relocation to Germany only)
Work style: Remote, full time

About the job

n8n started off as a workflow automation tool, but has increasingly become a tool for plugging AI into your business. In fact, n8n is a great platform for blending the three fundamental building blocks of automation: AI, code-based steps, and people-based ones. With the kind of traction only AI can bring (look us up on Google Trends), we now have the opportunity to become the visual tool for integrating AI into businesses, and shaping how that looks, feels, and works will be your design challenge at n8n. Nothing is off the table!

We were founded at the end of 2019 and currently:

  • We’re a diverse team of 140+ talented people.

  • Our annual recurring revenue is growing over 8x year-over-year.

  • With +117k GitHub stars, we are in the top 100 most popular projects of all time on Github.

  • We were the 25th fastest growing startup last year and 4th BtoB SaaS Rising 100 this year in Europe according to Sifted.

  • We were Sequoia's first seed investment in Germany, and most recently secured our $60M Series B (February '25, led by Highland).

This is a huge opportunity that requires wrestling with some questions that don’t yet have widely-accepted answers.

What you’ll do

Design System Development & Governance

  • Lead the rollout and evolution of n8n's design system across both design and code, maintaining components in Figma and implementing them in Vue.js.

  • Work closely with product designers and front-end engineers to refine and implement reusable components.

Feature Design Quality & Refinement

  • Review and refine features before release, ensuring they meet our high-quality standards for user experience.

  • Make visual adjustments and improvements to features in alignment with design system standards.

  • Design, build, and deploy smaller user-facing features to production.

  • Collaborate with front-end engineers to optimize performance and ensure technical feasibility.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with product designers to ensure the design system supports their needs while maintaining consistency.

  • Collaborate with front-end engineers to implement components and improve the developer experience.

  • Regularly align with product management to ensure feature priorities and design standards are met.
