Your Role at Vertice

We are seeking an exceptional experienced designer to elevate our design team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our spend management platform. As a senior member of the product organization, you will lead overhauls of our existing design thinking, mentor other designers, and collaborate closely with product and engineering leaders to deliver world-class product experiences. This role reports works cross-functionally to craft a best-in-class customer experience.

We operate in a dynamic, fast-moving market and are building a design practice that sets the standard for our industry. This is a unique opportunity to drive the design strategy and execution for a growing platform and to make a significant impact as we scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership: Be part of designing the vision and strategy for Vertice's products, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs. 

  • Design Execution: Drive end-to-end design efforts from ideation to execution (Creating user flows, wireframes, and complex prototypes to address new design challenges)

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to define design requirements and deliver solutions that balance user needs and business objectives.

  • Design Systems: Help to build and maintain a reliable design system to ensure consistency and efficiency across all products.

  • Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, integrating new ideas to improve design processes and outcomes.

  • Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery without compromising quality.

  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment, demonstrating resilience to changing priorities and the ability to pivot quickly as the business evolves.

  • Pragmatism: Demonstrate a pragmatic approach to design by focusing on delivering quality outcomes on time and knowing when "done" is better than "perfect" to keep the team moving forward.

  • Mentorship: Mentor other designers in the team, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in product design, specifically in designing SaaS B2B products with complex dashboards and data displays. A strong portfolio showcasing successful design projects in these areas is required.

  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading design concepts and projects, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with front-end technologies.

  • User Research: Background in conducting user research and translating insights into actionable design solutions.

  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating seamless user experiences.

  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and decisions to various stakeholders.

  • Startup Mentality: Comfortable in a fast-moving, rapidly evolving environment, with the ability to adapt quickly and effectively when priorities shift.

  • Pragmatic Mindset: Ability to prioritize practical solutions and make decisions quickly, delivering value without over-engineering or getting stuck in perfectionism.

  • Language:  high level of written and spoken English


Things we like to see

  • An excellent portfolio showcasing a range of impactful design projects, with clear evidence of user research, problem-solving, and business impact.

  • Experience working with B2B SaaS products and their typical user personas

  • Experience within a startup environment or smaller design team

  • Familiarity with complex design problems, often involving displaying large amounts of data or catering a user experience to multiple user types
